TCA iTerms 2026: Serving Near and Far

Tripp Morgan, Assistant Editor-in-Chief

Trinity Christian Academy has recently finished up their iTerms. iTerms are yearly mission trips in which the high school students and staff at TCA travel across the country, or sometimes the world, helping those in need and reflecting God’s loving nature onto those who are being served. In 2026, the high school students at TCA were lucky enough to be able to sign up for four national i-Terms: Local, College, Appalachia, and New York. The students and staff had overall positive experiences and were able to reflect the character of God through service while also enjoying their time on their i-Terms.

Local Missions –

The students who went on Local Missions stayed close to home. They volunteered at different places to help the kind people who run them. The Eagles helped at Timberview Farmstead, where they assisted as tour guides; “Chosen Ones,” where they sorted clothes and made food bags; the Central Storehouse; and “6 Stones.” TCA’s ministry partners, the owners of the places they volunteered at, each mentioned how “our students were the best we’ve had.”

College/Colorado –

Almost every year, the students at TCA go on an i-Term to different colleges, usually close to home. In 2026, however, the students were lucky enough to get to go to Colorado for their college tours. The students went to a wide range of schools in Colorado, from big state schools to smaller, more tight-knit schools. The colleges, in the order they visited them, were University of Colorado–Colorado Springs, Air Force, Colorado Christian, Colorado School of Mines, Denver University, University of Colorado–Boulder, and Colorado State University. The students enjoyed the wide range of colleges and the unique experiences each one offered. While in Colorado, the Eagles assisted Colorado Christian in their Sojourners Club, where they handed out food to people who were unfortunately without homes.

Appalachia –

In Hazard, Kentucky, the TCA students made quite the impact with their service through Thirst Missions. They lived by the motto “Serving and Living Extravagantly.” During their time in Hazard, they served those without homes, made blessing bags for those recovering from addictions, and even led worship one night. Junior Braden Karr recalls that he was not too excited for the whole experience leading up to the trip, while afterward he praised his experience, thanking God and saying, “Where you go is where He (God) is planning for you to be.” Braden and the rest of his classmates were all impacted by the trip.

New York –

The I-Term furthest from Trinity Christian Academy was the trip to New York City. The NYC i-Term was led by Graffiti Ministries, where they served at the P.S. 90Q Horace Mann School. At the school, they assisted in the teaching and entertainment of elementary school kids. The Eagles also helped out by passing out General Educational Development (GED) program flyers in Brownsville, a place in New York City known for its wealth disparity compared to the rest of the city. The students did not only serve but also had fun in NYC by visiting the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Central Park, the Statue of Liberty on Staten Island, and the One World Trade Center. While they were there, they even got to see The Great Gatsby live! The trip to New York City was overall a huge success for all who went.
