The smallest details are now becoming the first thing everyone notices. With the standard uniform required, accessories are how students make their style known. Students have started using small touches like jewelry, hair pieces and shoes to stand out in a sea of identical outfits. What counts as “too much” or “not enough” has surprisingly become a widely discussed topic. Students have developed their own ideas about what adds personality and what crosses the line. When asked, freshman Zoë Lowe said she enjoys dressing using her favorite colors and added that accessories help her feel more like herself even when the uniform stays the same.

For many students, these small choices are more than fashion because they represent identity. Accessories haven’t become the only space where students can experiment. For junior Luke Hernandez it is the other way around. Luke found how to express himself using uniform appropriate outerwear. Luke says he enjoys wearing knit sweaters, button jackets and quarterzips for outerwear. Luke has found a way to use outerwear that adds personality without breaking any rules.

As accessories become more common, they have started shaping the overall look and culture of TCA. Students say it is fun to see how small details can make uniforms feel more personal and many enjoy spotting new trends in the hallways. It is not just students embracing the trend. Some teachers have become known for their own sense of style, showing that individuality is not limited to the student body. Mrs. Coalson, who many students consider one of the trendiest staff members, says she enjoys adding personality to her outfits while still meeting professional dress requirements. She said she enjoys dressing with fun colors and using additional accessories to balance it out, explaining that fashion can be fun even within set guidelines.

Whether through jewelry, outerwear or a teacher’s colorful wardrobe, personal expression has become a defining part of TCA’s culture. Even with a fixed dress code, students and staff continue to prove that small details can make a big difference. As trends evolve, one thing remains clear. Individuality will always find a way to stand out.
